food and beverage manufacturing industry. The proper handling of raw materials
is not only essential for minimizing waste but also contributes significantly
to overall cost reduction. In the context of Cway Food & Beverages Nigeria
Co. Ltd., understanding the dynamics of materials management becomes paramount
in navigating the challenges posed by the competitive landscape and evolving
market demands.
The
challenges faced by the company in materials management are multifaceted, as
highlighted by Atnafu and Balda (2018) in their exploration of the impact of
inventory management practices on firms' competitiveness and organizational
performance. These challenges may range from inefficient procurement processes
to suboptimal storage facilities. In the case of Cway Food & Beverages
Nigeria Co. Ltd., identifying and addressing these challenges are critical
steps toward enhancing materials management practices and ultimately reducing
production costs.
Bag
et al. (2020) delved into the implications of Procurement 4.0 on business
process performance in a circular economy. This perspective is particularly
relevant in the contemporary business landscape, where technological
advancements play a pivotal role in shaping materials management practices.
Understanding how Cway Food & Beverages Nigeria Co. Ltd. navigates these
technological implications within the procurement landscape is essential for
both academia and industry practitioners seeking insights into cutting-edge
materials management strategies.
The
role of materials management extends beyond cost reduction; it encompasses the
optimization of profitability, as indicated by Brutus and Chiyem (2018) in
their assessment of materials management and profitability in an organization.
For Cway Food & Beverages Nigeria Co. Ltd., effective materials management
becomes a strategic imperative in achieving and sustaining profitability amidst
market fluctuations and consumer demands.
In
the Nigerian context, where small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play a
significant role, the study by Anifowose, Ghasemi, and Olaleye (2022) on total
quality management and SMEs performance becomes relevant. The mediating role of
innovation speed in SMEs performance highlights the interconnectedness of
various management practices. This perspective is particularly insightful for
Cway Food & Beverages Nigeria Co. Ltd. as it navigates the intricate
balance between quality, innovation, and materials management within the food
and beverage manufacturing sector.
Materials
management practices have been recognized as a vital component in optimizing
profitability in the Nigerian food and beverage industry (Monday, 2008). Cway
Food & Beverages Nigeria Co. Ltd. can draw from such studies to tailor its
materials management strategies, ensuring they align with industry best
practices and contribute to the company's overarching goal of delivering
high-quality products while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
In
conclusion, the role of materials management at Cway Food & Beverages
Nigeria Co. Ltd. is pivotal to its operational success. Drawing insights from
various studies within the broader context of materials management,
particularly in the Nigerian manufacturing industry, provides a nuanced
understanding of the challenges, opportunities, and strategies employed by the
